I don't think that this exists. As far as I know, there are no drop in replacements out there for the dash.

The only aftermarket dashes I've seen were custom carbon fiber (also seen a fiberglass one I think). Not for the street either. Essentially a panel of material with gauges, toggles, and lights.

My recommendation, take out your dash and separate the vinyl from the metal bracing. Then lay fiberglass or something over the metal. You won't lose that much weight (a couple pounds maybe) but you will have a custom dash and it won't be that hard to make. I'll be doing this in the next couple months (if I can find some ******* time) and I'll be sure to post on the process then. I'm sick of having air coming through my vents even though i don't have a heater! Ah, I immensely dislike the fresh air system on 80's cars (the vents right in front of the windshield).

Good luck.

I have a foam form of a dash started.... I don't know if/when I'll finish it. I too want a nice fiber glass dash. And the one I have made up doesn't have any vents.... more of a racing type.

Maybe some day I'll get round to it. I got kinda sick of gettin itchy from the fiber glas

Well at least I'm not the only one in this position!

I've got way too much time and no money.... so I pick up odd projects. Right now I'm trying to polish my intake manifold but, it was so rough to begin with now I have lots of sanding to do. Looks ok so far.... not like a mirror yet

But I don't have any pics on hand, I could of course take some and post them if the forum is accepting uploads at this time?
I think what I've got looks bad. Well I don't like the shape I've got anyway. I may get around to making it but that will require much effort...

At least I just changed the clutch out on my POS VW!

They've been created numerous times, do a search, they're out there. Most of them don't get the response they deserve.

It is streetable in the sense that it would work, but if a cop saw that, I doubt they'd like it. I mean, I'd use it, but I could see how some would consider it not too desirable.

I think to be streat legal you're really not allowed to do much with the dash. it has to be techinally a modled plastic that will crush if an occupant is thrown into it in a crash...

I for one do not want to be thrown into an all metal bar infront of me if I hit something. It's a little different with a harness/helmet/rollcage installed....

I'd go for a vinal cover or just a new cluster if you're gonna use it on the street.
