Adjusting passenger side window (Please help) :)
Ok, when I first got the car, both windows worked, but were alittle off, all is good I thought, and I fixed the driver side window with alittle luck, but now on the passanger side, I'm running into problems, the window travels towards the front weather strip at an angle instead of sliding on the back weather strip flat (I hope that makes sense) and its going up sometimes out past the stripping all together, and sometimes in towards the interior, not to bad, but its annoying, so I was wondering if theres any readmes or anything out there about adjusting rx7 electric windows, I know theres tutorials like that for my camaro out there on the net, but I havent ran accrost any for the rx7, so please pour as much info as you have about adjusting the rx7 windows in this thread, if all goes well, I take pics off all the work I do, and I could always just make tutorials for windows and what have you so that noobs (such as myself) don't ask this amillion more times
I've already adjusted the front weather stripping seal bolt to make the window stop jumping off the guide rail, but its still doing it, its like, everything that worked on the driver side, isn't on the passanger side, its just making it worse.
Any help would be great
Thank you in advance

Here's what I did to two 7's I've had with the same problems.
First, take regulator(s) completely out. In the center of the regulator there is a pivot point, a rivet, I think. Wiggle everything around. If its fairly tight with little play (mine had some) you can go from there. If there is LOTS of play, might as well forget it and find some better regulators. I advise you to go to the "parts for sale" section and email WAM.
He's got what you need, very reasonable prices, too.
Now, if the play is minimal, spray everything clean with carb cleaner or degreaser. Re-lube regulator with grease (I used some pretty thick stuff, so I 'thinned' it with a dose of WD-40 afterward). Work it manually (or plug the motor back in and use the window switches) several times to get the lube in the right places.
Go back to the door itself, and spray some white lithium grease (get it at any auto parts store) in the channels on both sides. I followed that up with a light coat of WD-40.
While you've got everything out, go ahead and drill a slot (for adjustment) in the front bottom channel screw hole. From inside the car, it'll be the 10mm bolt on your lower left, holding the bottom part of the front channel.
You'll need to drill it out so you can move the bottom channel in a back/forward motion. Then, put the bolt in, but leave it a little loose. Makes getting the window in easier later. Grab that channel and ensure you can move the bottom part a little back and forth.
Reassemble everything. With the window down, push the bottom front channel (adjustment you just created) so that it sits securely around the glass. As you roll the window up and down, adjust as needed to keep it secure but not bind. Also, roll the window down and shut the door firmly. If the glass jumps aff the track, you need to move the bolt adjustment closer to the glass. Repeat until the glass stays in place. Everything should now move smoother/faster. If it moves ok but seems to be misaligned just when the window reaches the top, roll the window down and grab the top back corner of the door and give it a couple of quick, strong yanks inward.
Try it again, it should be better. You may have to yank a couple more times for it to go perfectly.
Somehow through the years, these door frames get bent slightly outward, messing up the window as it comes to the top.
BTW, all this I learned on the forum doing searches. Took days of searching, but it's all there. Just not all in one place like I'm trying to do.
This method has worked (assuming good regulators) for me 100% of the time, my power windows work like new.
Good Luck!

"You'll need to drill it out so you can move the bottom channel in a back/forward motion"
That's the key to the whole operation. The hole is slotted, but there's only enough adjustment for the original assembly, not enough to account for years of wear. You have to lengthen the slot, or -- like I had to -- drill a completely new hole further aft.

how do you know were these are supposed to be ? i just swapped manual for power in my gs/gsl-se project and i am having a hell of a time getting the passenger door to work right, the drivers is a bit slow but i am thinking it may be the reg i got from pick a part, so i am thinking of pulling it back out and going back to exchange it for a different one out of a 41k mile car

Factory Service Manual (FSM) located in the First Gen FAQ's Section. Chapter 14 (Body), page 10 has the procedure (with photos) for adjusting the door glass regulators.

As for the motor. Just take a core to autozone and get a remanned one. Its not that expensive and will save you headaches in the long run. Or do what I did and go from electric to manual.

There's a lot of trial and error involved here. No one can just give you the answer because there are a million combinations of how the window can be travelling up (and out of) the channel. If you have power windows, mount everyhting sans the regulator and use the gear to raise and lower the window. DO NOT JUST PUSH IT UP BY THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW, THATS NOT WHATS HAPPENING IN REAL LIFE. Adjust the two adjustment bolts until it seems like its going right. If this never happens, you'll probably need to redrill/extend the adjustment taps as mentioned above. Keep on keeping on with this and eventually it will start to improve. Once its as good as you can get it, reisinstall the motor but not the door panel. Use it frequently, it will need to be readjusted soon.
