My air conditioner doesn't work (Hell, it may just need frion
)
and was wondering how much of a performance benefit it would be taking it out. Normally I drive cars with the windows down anyway if I get too hot, so the loss of a (unworking anyway) AC isn't too bad for me. Is it enough of a benefit to remove it? Or should I buy a new one for the trip down to Sevenstock? Is it easy to remove?
Thanks,
JJ

well, if anything, it's weight that has no use... the compressor and bracket weigh a ton, and the condenser is all in the way of the radiator, so if you're not using it just take it all out... took me about 30 minutes to rid the SE of it, firewall tube just wouldn't unscrew.. *snap*
If you just take the belt off of the compressor, there is no load on the engine. That would be where you would see the biggest performance benefit. The only disadvantage is some extra weight. On the other hand if you remove the entire AC system it will affect the resale value of your car. The condenser itself should not adversely affect the radiator's performance. If it does, you have other cooling problems.

I just hate the feel of an AC
I really don't care about the resale value of the car. If I'm hard up enough to sell this car, something else will be sold.
It works now, btw. But, I still hate it
