85 RX7 wont idle (carb)

I just bought a 1985 RX7 that is carbeurated. It wont idle at all after the choke has gone in and the engine has warmed up. I took off the filter cover and vacuum lines to find that out of the 4 barrels of the carb only two are actually doing anything. The two on the right while looking from the front of the car are the ones that work. I can reach my hand down there while someone else is on the gas holding at like 1000 and manually open the other two valves to rev it up. I noticed that there is no throttle cable going to the valve so Im not sure how it would ever open. For a temporary fix i opened up the valve manually, stuck in some very thin wire so when i let go it stays there from the spring closing it and it stays open a little bit. it has enough pressure against it to be held there, but to be a little safer i tied the other end to a stationary part of the engine that doesnt get hot. Now it idles well (1500 but ok for now) but its just a temp fix till i find out what the real problem is. Any ideas?!?!?! Thanks

Ok. First of all, your secondaries are vacuum operated, they are not supposed to be open at all during idling. They are meant for around 4k rpm and up, when there is a considerable load and the primaries can't keep up with the engine's demand for air and fuel. So undo your wiring.

Do a search for idling problems, rough idle, etc. There's plenty of info to be found. Also, look at this possibility as well: http://www.mazdatrix.com/FAQ/SHUTTER.HTM

Yea, what he said. And also you probably have a vacuum leak.
