85 problems

i have recently been given my first rx it is an 85 12a. but i am having problems withit.
first of all when the choke is out it runs up to 3000rpm. the second is that after the car is warmed up it dies when put in drive. i have been working on it for weeks checking and replacing parts. also the haynes manuel doesn't adress this problem.

the engine should rev to 3000 when the choke is pulled. don't know much about the jatco trans. sorry. its probably a solenoid that has gone bad.

it could be something with the fuel/air mixture. touch that screw and you could have some emission problems at the least.

before you even think about touching the carb, check all the vacuum lines. Then look at the no-start thread in the FAQ (I know, it starts, but the thread still has some goodies for you).

I vote for vacuum leak.
