85 GSL-SE wider stance

I'm looking for a wider tire to fill out the GSL-SE wheel wells and looking for suggestions. I bought these 14" rims / tire combo from TireRack but the overall height if the tire is 1/2 " taller and I'm afraid it's gona look 4x4ish - any suggestions?

Welcome to the board.

Tire choices for 14s were hilarious back in the day. I can only imagine that they are even worse now. I'm not particularly fond of "big" rims on these cars, but I think a +1 is okay. You will have more choices.

I dont want a huge wheel with very low profile tires - NOT the look Im looking for at all. I just want the tire/wheel to fill up closer to the outside edge of the wheel well (wider tire/rim) as needed and you are right the choices for a 14" rim are slim to none. I guess if I go to a 15 and get a slight smaller profile tire with width I could possibly get there. Otherwise I'm wondering about spacers to push the wheels/tires out an extra inch

thanks for the welcome and the reply!

15x7 +0 with a 195 50 15 looks pretty awesome, but you do need to roll the fenders.

Yeah, 50s on a 15-inch wheel with the widths you would be considering still leave you a decent sidewall - in my opinion. They are not paper-thin and goofy-looking. I've seen them. I had several friends/acquaintances that were running 15s (many of them were 15x7s, more specifically). Now I can't speak for what offsets are out there with the wheels, and what will or will not rub, but you should be just fine with tire availability. Just do your due diligence and make sure you will be able to source the tires you will need because I don't know what you're looking for in terms of specifics (speed rating, tread pattern, tread wear, compound, etc.)

I just wanted to throw that out there since you expressed your concerns. That said, I guess spacers will work if you get some longer studs.

I run Konig Rewind 15 x 7 with a 20mm back space and 205/50x15 tires and they fit fine and look awesome. Because my car is lowered about 1.5 inches I did have front fender rub that required some mild rolling to fix. This is on an SA. The SE have some differences in back space requirements so can't advise you there.
