85 GSL-SE fuel injection problems
so Ill start with the problems
1. no start, spark present, wet plugs (deflooding procedure no longer works to start car)
2. intermittint ruff idle, stalling, poor fuel mileage (under 10 mpg's), bucking, strong fuel smell,
attempted fixes
1. cleaned injectors (? quality of job)
2.new fuel filter flushed fuel system drained fuel tank
3.new coolant temp sen.
4.checked for injector leak none seemed present after injector cleaning
help!

could be an ignition problem, but did you verify spark on both trailing and leading? if that checks out i would put a guage on your fuel line before and after your fuel rail. make sure the door on the AFM isn't sticking (below the airfilter).

I brought my fuel pressure gauge home from the shop today so that is first on my list as soon as the battery is charged. I checked for leading spark only so ill check trailling but as I under stand it the se will not run the fuel pump without trailling spark signal? the pump is running(when the key is turned) . The afm passed all voltmeter tests a week ago while the car was still starting.
What are the symtoms of a bad fuel pressure regulator will taking pressure readings while cranking be usefull or do I need to get the car started?

fuel pressure regulator makes the car just runn really bizzare when its bad, it can fail a few ways too. quick check is to see if there is fuel in the vacuum line for the regulator

and the prize goes to j9fd3s I disconected the vac-line for the fpr and my hand got wet with fuel I imagine that the car was sucking up extra fuel with the vac line causing it to run rich also when the vent solenoid closed on hot days or when cranking would vent the fuel getting rid of most of the symptoms? I guess when the fuel pressure bleeds down after cranking it would flood the housings (why I thought bad injectors)
To verify this I am going to disconect the vacume line to the fpr control solenoid valve, deflood the motor and try to start it again. it should start and run ok

the SE fuel pump only runs when your cranking the car, it does not run in the ACC position. So if it's running, your AFM is sticking open, or there is a fuel pump relay under the dash that could be bunk.
To test, take your gauge and tee into the main fuel line right in the engine bay. Prop the AFM open with the engine off and the pump should run, should get around 50~71psi per FSM. That can determine a weak pump or a bad FPR if you read more or less. You can also test while idling and recieve around 29@ idle. If you remove the vacuum line from the FPR you should read 37@ idle.
