I built an old 1980 back in 92. Looking to get back into a new project. Can't find a GSL-SE around for the right price. Found a GSI, 85 for 1500.00. Streep port and exhaust.

Anybody heard of a GSI and do you think this is a fair price?

New to forum, looking forward to good things.

GSI? You must be refering to the GSL, of course I have heard of them, I own one. That price is good if the car is in decent mechanical condition as well as rust free.

Gsi

I figured it was a GSL but I wanted to make sure there was not a model out there that I had not heard of.

The car appears to be in good shape with the exception of one small rust hole near the hatch. The doors appear to be in good shape. My 80 had rotten doors. The entire bottoms had to be cut out and replaced.

Do you know what the GSL-SE brought to the table over the GSL?

Thanks for the quick response on the last question.

Wait it out for a gsl-se..

this has been discussed many times here already. Do a search on gls-se vs gsl and you should find lots of info.

Ya, the GSL-SE has the Fuel injected 13b, larger disc brakes, different gear ratio, and a few other advantages. Always make sure to check the wheel wells in these cars for rust, if theres rust, thats where it will be!

Fi

I'm not really interested in FI. I like NA engines but a turbo is a thought. The brakes can always be changed. I plan on that anyway. I plan on this being a long term project so brake replacement is being factored in.

well you'll have to buy the gsl-se rear and front to get disc in the rear...unless your car came with the option for rear discs but even still most disc brake kits that you can get require the gsl-se rear end of at least the spindles from them you midst well wait and try to find a gsl-se...and if you can get your hands on FI I would suggest it...especially if you go turbo...not that you can't turbo with a carb but you'll need some sort of computer system to run the turbo so you'll probably end up going FI anyway...really...heed some advice...I am not by any means trying to discourage you is all...I'm agreeing with everyone else its much easier to do stuff to a gsl-se as well as find parts for them!
