Ok sorry for the late reply. The response was long so I am going to try and compress it and put down some key take away points that I got from them. They brought out two different cars in the last 2 years to seven stock to try and show the product off or get it out there. I messaged back to try and get more info on the 2 R&D cars. They said that if you would like another rack setup for better response that you can use another rack instead of the mustang II rack. He did admit that the Ackerman was less than stock because of the front location but did state that the old re speed kit lost Ackerman as well compared to the factory steering system.

  • The turning ratio of the standard mustang ii rack is about one full turn less than the stock steering box and about 1/8th turn more than the power steering box.
  • The turning radius is the same as stock with the kit
  • The blacktie kit is very similar to the old fc rx7 respeed kit.
  • Billy the guy that designed the old Respeed kit has acknowledged the blacktie kit as a solid solution for the steering issues the 1st gen rx7 has.

The fc already has rack and pinion steering. Why would respeed make a kit for it?
Billy from respeed knew what he was doing. It shows in the design of his r&p kit. Bt kit doesnt. Looking a picture of their kit doesnt make me confident enough to buy it. Never met billy but have a hard time believing he would say that. That design is nothing new go look on summit there are 1000's of them for all classic 50's 60's cars.
