84 SE intermittent no start

I have a 84 SE that I'm having problems:

The car starts on starting fluid until you stop feeding it.

No tach movement from the dash

I am getting spark to the spark plugs

I'm lost and need your help!

Trailing ignitor firing the Trailing Coil controls the ECU signal for when to trigger the fuel injectors. Even if you're getting good fuel pump action and spark, no fuel will mean no start. Have a look at that and report back.

The simple check is to move the white ECU signal wire from one of the spade connections on your Trailing Coil to the same spade connection on the Lead Coil - this will get a signal to the ECU and allow the engine to start and run (poorly). I used this once to limp my way to a car show and back home where I could troubleshoot the ignitor as the problem. It was.

Good luck,
