you have to fabricate it. i thought about this a few times getting 3" piping for a dry exaust at you local hardware store and run it from the air dam to the intake of carb cover.

What's wrong with the blue intake? Seems like alot of work for little to no gain.

This is a site for ICAI by Steerling & Carl. www.ten15.net/maz.tutorials/index.html

BumSlie420, ask all the questions you please. That's how many of us learn.

Have Fun ; )
David

EDIT: This site will provide some information on cone filter & other filters. www.knfilters.com

That's actuall hurting your airflow, WB. The ribs on the dryer hose create a "vortex" (so to speak) and shrink the hose down to half it's original size. So, that 4" tubing you've got on there is actually like a smooth 2".

Not to mention that type of CAI-**** doesn't work, but I've hashed that out in too many other identical "CHECK OUT MY M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-AAAAAD TYTE CAI!" THREADS.

Don't forget to remove the pipe that goes down to the exhaust manifold heat shield and find a way to remove/stick open the flap in the snorkel that restricts airflow.

The tube down to the exhaust mani doesn't show up on WB's because he's got headers and it's removed.

CAIs don't give any real gains that anyone has been able to prove on our cars. The real gains come from carb modding.

But if you mix carb modding, a K&N and a CAI, then you pretty much are sure that you have good airflow... but the K&N and CAI aren't really big gains. On a GEO a K&N and CAI give huge gains aparently, but not an Rx7

Yup. A 3 horsepower gain on a 30HP engine is 10%. It's only 3% on a 100HP engine.

I bet you would take 3 hp on that SRX7 car............. Even tho the Texas bunch CREEPED the SRX7 rules I would think most of the owners would accecpt 3 hp for a couple bucks.

I'll take all the 3 hp gains I can get for $20 worth of material & some of my time.

Here's my setup, one big difference is the better throttle response and smoother revs. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/656571

BumSlie420, for the most part the 1981 through 1985 carb cars are the same. Other than maybe the overflow bottle.

Have Fun ; )
