84 gls-se tranny?

will a 84 gls-se tranny fit to my 83 12a?

yes they are like the same tranny except the se has a side vent and higher 5th gear.

My 83GS has an SE transmission, and I like the tall 5th gear.

A 86 to 88 5spd n/a tranny has a even taller 5th gear. Just swap the rear shaft cover and speedo gear from a 1st gen tranny and then you can run a nice RPM at highway speed.
