84-85 gsl-SE lim on 90 NA

So, I have searched, but not come up with an answer. Here is the deal. I just got a 90 NA for the 7. I am going to rebuild it, and streetport with the Pineapple racing template. I want to keep the 6-ports on, just to try for experiment. I am also going with the 6-port inserts.
Here is the question. I have a 48 Dell, with upper RB intake. It was for a 12A/84-85 13B LIM. With wanting to keep the ports, I am looking to find a 84-85 GSL-SE LIM. Does anyone have any ideas why the 84-85 may not work on the 90 S5 motor? Any coolant passages, port mismatch, etc. that would make this not work? Also, any problems getting the 84-85 actuators to work the port inserts, though don't know why they would be different?
I also know that RB sells the upper for the 86-92 lower intake mani, I am just trying to save a buck, but if I have to go that route, so be it.

Thanks in advance,
Travis

Come on, some smarty pants know this, and thinks this is a stupid question to them. If it is possible, I have a guy waiting to sell one, if not, I will pursue getting the RB upper for the dell.

Not sure if it helps, it should.. I have a thread in this forum, this page or next about a se lim onto a 86-89 engine... it pretty much matches up for me, your not running emmisions are you?

The only difference on the intake ports was that the 2 primary ports were 3/16" taller on the s4 engine from my s3 intake, no problem though,, see my thread. Not sure of difference on the s5 engine though.. do what I did, buy, or use a gsl-se lower intake gasket(to engine) and put it on your s5 engine and see how it fits.... that would prolly help you the best, cause as you can see in my topic, I looked and looked and couldnt find anything for my problem, and didn't see anything that would help yours either... at least the rotary population will be able to find out once you do

So yeah try the gasket.

the se lim will not bolt to your s5 motor.
the bolt pattern is different.

Nice save... LOL, you see my thread about a SE lim going to the S4? That should be fine right?

And I might want your rotary wagon...

I don't know if the S5 and S4 LIMs have the same bolt/gasket pattern to the block or not, never have had an S5. But RB does make a UIM for the 2 barrel carbs that bolts to the top of the S4 LIMs, I have one in the shop.

ok i had some intakes mixed up earlier.
i just went to the garage with a s5 lim and it went on the se fine.
so the answer is yes, a s5 lim will bolt to a s3 motor.
sorry for the confusion.

The S3 LIM will bolt up directly to an S5 engine (even the squareport for emissions lines up perfectly, better than an S4). However the two center intake ports are off by about 1/4".
I'm using a full S5 intake with the LIM port-matched to fit my stock engined GSL-SE.

I have just done all the same things you are trying to do. All is good with SE LIM mating to the S5 engine. No worries. I ditched the aux ports though. I finally have the car running better than I did but i am still running rich ( lower unti emulsion tube).
