Angry 83 won't run past 65mph!!!help!!

I got out onto the highway and my 83 rx7 won't pass 65mph. I've got the gas pedal down to the floor. This sucks can anyone tell me what the problem might be.

Check the following:

fuel filter

air filter

tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor)

and... if none of that works, then your cat is probably clogged.

I'd have to go with your cats being clogged. I have an 85 and cant get past 80 so I know how you feel. I have also just done a tune up, new NGK plugs, wires, cap and rotor, air filter, fuel filter and none of that cured the problem so now it's down to the cats. Just gonna get the cat replacement pipe from racing beat.

take your plugs out one-by-one and hook them back up to their wire. Then crank the engine to make sure they're all firing.

Another thought... look on the passenger side of your carberator. (take off the air cleaner first)

As you are looking at it, look at the bottom left hand corner of the carb. You will see a pivoting bracket with a big spring on it. There should be a rod with a cross-brace on top of that pivoting bracket. It frequently falls down. Pull it back up with needle-nose pliers.

Nope, those are you throttle return springs. The one that like to slip off is a back up spring in case the main one breaks.
