NM 83 Oil Cooler theory

I'm trying to think of a reason why we can't use the transmission cooler section of the radiator as a replacement for the beehive oil cooler.

I'm more interested in opening a dialogue for this. Is there any obvious reason why it can't be done? I'm guessing the pressures may be an issue, but what pressure would the transmission fluid be under?

Really just looking for pros and cons here. Any ideas are appreciated.

Mines an 83 GS pretty much stock.

I am thinking that what you think the transmission cooler is, is not. It is the AC condenser, built into the radiator. I could be wrong, Im sure if I am someone will come in and let me know

If it is the AC condenser than it would not provide sufficient cooling for the oil. The stock FMOC's are the best out there for a rotary application.

He is referring to the Aftermarket replacement radiators that are set up for A/T vehicles as well as non A/T ones.

The A/C condenser is not part of the Radiator and sits in front of the radiator on A/C equipped vehicles.

As far as the OP question.

This has been extensively covered regarding the usage of anything else than the Factory oil coolers.

If you have a 83 with the beehive cooler then the only upgrade for a oil cooler is either the 79-82 ones, the SE one or the FC one. All of which have been covered as to how to install in your beehive type set up.

Sorry but I am closing this thread as this topic has been covered and if you search with the terms oil cooler and look for the thread with the most posts.
