83 Le wheels prices

Hi all,
I have a set of limited edition wheels, they don't look great previous owner painted them with cheap paint. I did a 5 lug conversion and looking to clear some space. What's a set worth?

I paid $400 from a member for a set that had been well refinished. I feel it was a fair price for these rare and gorgeous wheels. So my guess in the condition they are in $250 to $300.

Thank you for the feedback. I didn't know they were worth that much.

I paid $350 for a set of 4 similar to yours about 10 years ago, back when they were still fairly common.

Now I'd say $400 is a fair price for a set in decent condition.

Yours could be stripped and refinished, add another $100. (but it's a fair amount of work)

Thanks Ray. I might spend some time cleaning them up and stripping the crap paint so they don't look so shitty. Appreciate the feedback

I used a paint stripper designed for boats, I can get the name if you like.

Nasty stuff but it works.

Here they are primed:

And painted original silver color:

Ray knows his 83 LE wheels. If the refinished set shown is not on his 83 LE they are on my 79 GS look great and are holding up well.

That set is on my LE, they make the car in my opinion.

Bill your set is a second set I refinished at the same time.

Only difference is the center caps, rare as hen's teeth those things.

That's why I paid extra attention to redoing the 4 I have, notice how that Mazda logo pops?

They look amazing. Where can I get the oem color? I am going to try an aircraft stripper I have since I am already stripping to bare metal my fc for paint.

Well the idiot original owner just painted over the original color.
Stripper did a good job though. Maybe I'll just put them in the blasting cabinet. 83 Le wheels prices-photo233.jpg

Pretty wheels KuTu, looking good.

I should have bought them.

Are your center caps any good?

Yeah the original color is up for grabs, I'm going from old photos.

Silver will work, but don't hesitate to experiment.

I'm going more silver next time, mine look a little too gray these days, not sure why.

Ray, they are available still.
All I did right now was use the stripper and they came out decent enough to post.
The center caps are all there, no cracks just some scratches. I am sure some sanding and paint would bring them back.

Nice. If I didn't already have a set and a good spare I'd be all over it.

For anyone still driving the iconic 13 inch "X" wheels these are a plug and play option to upgrade to 14 inch wheels with a much better tire selection.

And that retro wire wheel BBS styling looks fantastic on an FB!

Ray, they do look splendid. I am even considering just putting them in the basement and buy another fb in the future. Can never have too many rx7 although I really want to get my hands on an rx2,3 or 4.

Now you're talking, keep them for another day and another car.

You won't regret it, but if you sell them some day you might.

Good luck finding a 2, 3 or 4!
