83 front counter weight

83 front counter weight

I have used the search but did not find for shure what i was looking for,I have a 82 with a manual trans,i want to put in an 83 12A it had an auto,I know i have to remove the rear counter weight,and i have a fly wheel and clutch from a 84 to put on the 83 motor,now my question is do i have to do any thing with the front counter weight?will the one in it work with the manual trans. Thanks

I don't know why you would have to replace the counter balance since it is supposed to counter balance the rotors. All you need to do is swap out the flywheel with one from a manual tranny.

You do not have to do a damned thing to the front counterweight. The counterweight's imbalance is matched to the rotors, you're not changing the rotors, so why would you change the counterweight?

Sometimes the part number *is* different. But the imbalance is the same, so changing the front counterweight when swapping manual/suto is just blindly changing parts without using the 5-pound tool between the ears.

Thanks,I am new at these rotaries,so have no idea what dose what,bought the 82 for 50 bucks with a oil leaking engine, then bought the 83 with the good motor,trying to make one good one out of the two,the 83 has been wrecked,and chews up front tires as fast as you can put then on,the 82 is rust free,came from west coast.Will have more dumb questions before i an done.Thanks
