A lot of Auto's fell into the hands of female drivers who by and large, are smaller and don't create the same ware and tear on the seats as a guy would.

This car is turning out to be even better than I expected. The originality of it with the low miles make it into the closest I will ever get to driving one of these when new. It feels like a new car.

I am leaning towards leaving the auto trans in this car just because of the originality. It is still very enjoyable to drive. If I want a manual car I think I will sell this one and search for a nicely done manual car. This one deserves to be preserved.

What would you guys imagine this car is worth? My opinion is generally whatever someone will pay for it. I'm guessing $4 to $6 k

Wow great find! I'd leave it automatic just for the fact that it looks all original and unmolested. Automatics are getting harder to find in the Rx7 community.

There's nothing better than an unmolested low mileage SA or FB. I'm not surprised the car has won you over.

And I agree completely with keeping it original (with the exception of upgrading to a free flow exhaust). Originality is very highly valued on any 30 year old car.

As far as value, assuming you bought the car on the open market (craigs list, car dealer, advertised by private owner) then the car is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Which was how much?

Post some more pictures when you get a chance, especially the interior and under the hood.

I'd like to see what an unmolested '83 GSL looks like, since I'm currently restoring one myself.

I'll be the first to preach that keeping an already stock car, stock is the way to go. However, converting a automatic (or 4speed) to a 5 speed is not really molesting the car in my opinion. True, the car is not "stock" anymore, but it your still using factory parts to perform an upgrade.

As good as the car is now, a manual will make it come alive and is truer to the original design intent. The Automatic was offered to fill a hole by making the car accessable to people who may not be comfortable shifting manualy. But it did kind of de tune the performance of the car.

To me, its worth about the same as the current market for a manual car in the same condition and mileage. Maybe $500 to $1000 less due to the loss in fun factor. At the same time, some might argue that since it stickered for more and saw less revs (and engine wear) over its life, it's actually worth more. It's all subjective and opinion based.

The car short shifts at 5.5k rpm so it has had an easier life. The previous owner actually bought the car a few years ago from a collector and it only had 12K miles on it then.

My ting is generally modifying cars to my liking this is what I planned to do as you guys know. The manual conversion and then the usual stuff to make it a bit quicker.

I am seriously considering either keeping it as is or passing it along to someone that wants an original car and then I can purchase one with some work already done to my liking. It is a hard decision, the car is so cool.

Sounds like a fair price to me Mike. How does it compare to my awesome new ride?

My 2 cents is that its worth the same as a manual to the right person. Someone who wants an automatic will pay an equal price as someone who wants a manual. Although, If I purchased it I would deduct the cost in parts to swap to manual. So -$400?

Paint code

Anyone no of hand what color my car is and what the paint code might be? Or where the paint code is located? Some touch up paint would be great for a couple little nicks here and there.

I am considering selling this car guys. I have a possible 5 speed car lined up, I am more interested in modifying the car I have and this one should be left as is it is cool just like that. I think $4500 is a good number. What do you guys think?
