I would not be buying for the drive train btw.

By biggest concern is the *minor* wiring problem.

thanks

Find out where the "minor oil leak" is. It's probably the leak o' death, but better to ask to be sure.

The wiring problem isn't too bad to figure out. Just disconnect things and get your multimeter out to check for 12v wires. From there it's just making your own leads as needed.

$500 seems to be the market value for a 1stgen w/no engine and straight body, so this looks like a good deal, but the auction is still 4 days from closing. I don't think $400 will close the deal this time around.

Yeah the auction is discouraging. Maybe seeing cash will do something for him. His roommate said he wanted to sell it pretty bad.

I'm going to schedule something to check it out later today.

Well it's been pushed up to $510 now.

I tried, but just could not get him to let me know when I could meet with him with cash to try and possibly make a deal.

Hopefully the high bidder will be a deadbeat.

Oh well. The search continues.

thanks for the insight

Maybe I got a better deal than I thought. Mine has some dents and dings, but it's only got 90,000 miles and the interior is pretty nice too. $550!

This is why you don't post links to ebay auctions you are interested in. Especially about a cheap rx-7 that looks nice to a bunch of low buck rx nuts.
I bet a couple of the bidsders are from people who read this thread. Heck if it was closer I would bid.

Possibly, but if you look at the bid history the one racking up the price can't be.

They suck at ebay if they are anyway. :o

He also hasn't gotten back with me in what I consider an acceptable amount of time.

I'd go for it still, even at that price.

You never get a good deal on a car on ebay, b/c there's always others that want that car more than you and will pay a ridiculas amount of money.
Ebaymotors is a sellers market.
the car's at 560 now and will probably go for over 1000 with a body like that.
imo it's worth 5-600 no more.

That's true.

I've only just started to look for a shell so it's cool.
