82 Targa Top

anyone know how many of these were made, and how much value should it add to the overall cost of the vehicle?

from what i'm told the Targa top 1st gen is simply a stainless steel band, and it says targa, i dont beleive the roof was actually removable, it was meant to be a porsche mock thing . . .
i have a real targa top rx7 check the sig . . .

the "targa" one is an aftermarket band from what i understand. the one that says "mazda" is the oem one. it comes from a package called the "imsa gtu" package which included the targa band, the front spoiler, and the rear spoiler. you could buy the pieces seperatly without making it the package. the targa band is stainless steel over plastic. it screws to the body and it really looks nice. i have a very nice oem one waiting for another nice 7 to come in my path.

The actual one that you ordered when you ordered your car said Targa7 on it. My SE came with it original from Mazda and that is what it says.

They were a dealer option and there are actually 3 different versions of it.
Two different 3 peice versions and a 1 peice version.

Some said Targa 7, some said Mazda. All were available from Mazda at some point.

I would say it is to much, but I dont like the rust in the doors. It is bad already and will only get worse.

I have a targa band. its for sale. make offers by pm if interested.
Daryl

edit - static - your ACTUAL targa roof looks ****** sweet. It's really clean looking from the outside, but i'm not big on the way it looks from the inside, nor with the notched door frame. How has it affected stability of the car?

Car is stable, frame rails an 3-point roll cage, the roof setup will me re-done as i leaks horribly, the roof is heavy, and i dont liek the overall quality of it, so it'll be re-done with better seals, made of carbonfiber (painted though) and will have a headliner too bad the targa 1st gens aren't ACTUAL targas
P.S. when the ******* did this roof they eliminated the visors, i live in AZ, 'nuff said
