so i started working on my car a week before cristmas and it was a daily driver before this i was tired of it being ugly and not fast shall i say cause it wasnt slow it just didnt have enough for me it will be gloss black real paint not rattle can and i have some nice five spoke aluminum wheels for it tell me what ya think

 

nice build. That's a cool way to do a draw through turbo setup, I've never seen it done that way. A big thumbs up!

 

i think the car is way too low and the intake/carb setup is kinda hoaky and inefficient. i can appreciate the amount of work that went into building the car and i commend you for that.

I've seen some old Beetles done that way with a drawthrough. Better put a wideband O2 on that thing. Not too bad a build.

well i am still not done there will be new couplers and clamps this was just a mock to see if it would work and the carb is higher than the intake on the turbo so why does it matter i have 100 dollars into this other than what i paid for the motor it was a budget build and i had all the things i needed to do it and the thing gets it on pretty good and im only running 5 psi and thanks to all of you that had positive feedback more pics coming soon

 

There is always lots to criticize, just depends on how one chooses to look at things. Little money, lots of creativity and originality, I gotta praise the effort. Anyone can write a cheque. Every year I do a little more to my car.....can't afford everything at once.

Not blowthrough........Drawthrough.

Anyone ever see that episode of Pinks with the turbo Beetle? Some serious power can be made. I just have never liked the "risk" factor with the drawthrough.

Whats your suspension set-up? Is it a track vehicle or is it driven on the street?

 

what risks are involved? or did you just mean more likely to have detonation

 

Good work. Don't kill your engine with that crappy air filter. I had one of those triangle style foam things on my car. I paid quite a bit for it because it looked so nice, but they don't really work. When the vacuum rises, the filter pulls in and distorts allowing dirty air to go straight into the motor.

 

around how many hp are you gonna pull? what turbo are you using? what port?

 

thank you it is stock height for now i took my lowering spings out because i did that bumper swap and the wheels so i have to lower it to match now its a t3/t4 and i have steped up to eight pounds it has a good old gm quadrajet carb on it and i changed the intake charge pipe setup now for better flow and reliability now more crappy hose clamps its t clamps now

 

o ya he is talking about the risk of fuel puddling in the intake and it exploding but he must have forgot how much vacuum a rotary motor creates i dont believe you have to worry about it and drawthrough must be fairly safe because 90% of factory turbo cars before fuel injection were drawthrough the buick gnx the turbo trans am renualt fuigo just to name a few

 

Talking from experiance... your system will have a lot of fuel dropping out of suspension... especially at lower RPMs (under 2-3k). The intake from the carb to turbo is long and flat (you'll loose some there) and routing the air/fuel mixture up and through a couple bends AFTER the turbo (you'll loose some more atomization there) and fuel will also drop out of suspenstion at the bottem of the turbo.... again, MOST of these issues will only be noticable at lower RPMs.
Well, enough pointing out stuff... i was just trying to clear things up a bit. Great job on the fabrication... I know it isn't easy.

hey cris yeah its me im livin by the papa murphys pizza place now ya let me know next time your down yes i know it is not the most eficient way to do it but i have not had a problem with it yet i have no problems at all in the low rpms the charge pipe is short enough it doesnt matter it idles better and runs way cleaner than it ever did n/a

 

oh and by the way bearzah i did all my own work i didnt buy anything i built my own manifolds turbo and intake I made them i built all my own stuff it was built not bought the only thing i didnt do was the rollcage and heliarcing cause i dont have a tig welder
