81 rotor housings using a thermal reactor

Fellas,
If I rebuild an '80 model rx-7 12A engine with 81 rotor housings will I still be able to hook up the thermal reactor and associated exhaust equipment for the smog system in an otherwise stock car?
Thanks,
Peacedog

Iirc, the later housings have a little divot where the port is drilled out in the earlier housings. I see no reason why you couldn't drill out the matching holes that are needed for the thermal reactor system. Take a close look at the exhaust sleeves, you may need to swap those out.

How difficult, and how do you, swap the exhaust sleeves?

Thanks,
