'79 Tune up question

I'm going to get a new starter today and figured I would go ahead and order parts for a tune up too. I was planning on picking up a new cap and rotor. Should pick up new points and condensers too? (79 with points ignition) I have burn marks on the inside of my cap, and can have some idle trouble when it rains. I think the cap/rotor are the problem. Is it worth getting the points and condensers too? What kind of intervals should I be changing these things out? I know its been a few years since I last had a tune up. I'll get around to doing plugs and wires in a little bit, but wanted to go ahead and knock the above out.

Back when I ran my last point style ignition, I replaced the points and plugs every 1500 miles, but a 383 wasn't really designed for the 7k rpms I put it through either.

Unless you prefer keeping it stock, replace the points system with an electronic one. If keeping it stock, new parts all the way through, cap rotor, points, plugs and condensors. Check the plug wires too.

FAQ page has a link to the electronic swap.

This would be a great time to replace the battery cables...

Yeah, I've changed all that stuff before, but it was when I lived at home and my dad picked it all up for me. I couldn't remember exactly what stuff was important to change. I plan on switching to the electronic ignition in a couple years once I get my engine rebuilt and ported. I gotta find a daily driver before I do all that. Thanks.
