79 intake ?

79 intake ?

I am putting my truck back together and my sterling carb should be here soon my ? is when iI put the 79 intake it leaves a slot open under it between the header and intake how do i plug it or should I just use my 83 intake with out the shutter valve in it

I have always wondered about that myself..

A 79 intake should povide a cooler intake charge since there is no exaust air warming the incooming air.

You have to machine a plate ressembling a gasket. It must be rather thick.

okay I understand now I do have an 83 intake with shutter removed dont feel like fabbing anything did enough in this truck already plus I want to do dlidfs soon thanks

You can also bolt a piece of angle to the manifold to block it.

u can also get those blocking nozzles, i think that's what they're called, that require removing the oil pan to replace. RB sells them. i have them in my '74 engine. then u wont need the plate.

I dont think that will work on a 83-85. Different setup on the housings. You can block the passage, but the engine should be apart to do it.
