Question 79 engine change, need advice

Me and a friend are doing a 13B upgrade to a 79 RX. We have a complete 87 parts car for all the electrical, tranny, driveshaft, ect ect. Well i guess all i was wondering is CAN it be done?

We are going to be rebuilding the 13B block out of the 87, and putting it all into the 79.

Does anyone have any steps we could follow?

I have rebuilt, and am currently driving my 86 that I just finished rebuilding, and is running VERY strong now, so i am experienced with the steps, but have never done something this big.

any help would be MUCH apperciated. Thankyou

Use your 12A front cover, and get a GSL-SE oil pan from somewhere. The 1st and 2nd gen engine mounts are totally different.

For the tranny, use the 87 trans, and make a mount for it. May be able to swap tailshafts, but I don't know for sure. I guess I'll try it one day and see.
