79 carb choke question

I’ve got a carb that’s been stripped except for the choke stuff.
I’d like to simplify it even more without losing the choke pull staying in till warm etc.
Is all this needed for the choke to operate?

My choke doesn't even stay in place so I made a little stopper . Leave it on until the engine reaches the first hash. Tada.

Exactly what I do too. A dime works great. Been thinking about 3d printing something a little nicer that stays around the choke that I can flip back and forth.

I used a rubber Pipe end cap for cars , cut a Rectangle shaped channel in it , looks clean.

Mine stays out until warm, just curious to see if I need all this stuff on the carb for that to happen
