79-85 Carbon Fiber Hoods?

I'm planning on painting my FB soon and thinking if I can top it off with something like a cf hood. Do they make cf hoods for FBs?

^Just a thought though. I had the feeling it would be expensive because TRUENO cf hoods are and they're old cars.

Someone on the Forum has fabrictared one, and it looks beautiful! If you search around you can find it, he was thinking about selling them if i'm not mistaken.

They do make them, but its over in Japan. I seen a post about a month back of a CF hood on a Japanese page. The Guy said he bought it and had it shipped over seas to his house in the U.S. So I would just keep looking and maybe do a search in the forum. Good Luck

Nice...I'll be anticipating this one. At what price range are you going to sell them at? I'm hoping not 400+ like the AE86.

white84GS: Thanks for the info, but I don't want to go through the hassles of getting it to my door from overseas due to high shipping costs.

now that i think of it, i could use unidirectional cloth and make a 5 layer hood for under 100$ (alternating directions of course)

It would be interesting to see a CF hood melt...

I'm sure they are more heat resistant than fiberglass.....but it would just be nice to see someone waste the money on the CF hood, and have it melt onto their engine while they're idling with people looking at the car.

If you just cut the bottom part of the hood, and then just put in some support so that it doesn't cave in you'll have a hood that's about 12lbs. It's a lot easier and cheaper than making a cf or fg one.
