Question 79(12a) vs 83 (12a)

Is there a significant difference between a 79 12a and an 83 12a as far as power and wieght goes? Rx7Heaven swapped this engine out a few years ago and it seems so much stouter than the 79 12a. Of course I do have a few mods such as the electronic ignition upgrade, racing beat headers, bonez intake and k&n flter. I have just been curious about this and wondered if any of you fellow rotarheads could help me out.
Thanks.

The '83 has a lighter rotating assembly. Everything else being equal, I'd go with the '83.
