79 12A Stock Carburetor

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to what carburetor would be the best replacement for for a bone stock 79 12A? I basically just want to get the car running and back on the road. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

A bone stock 12A is the best you can do all around. Unless yours is badly damaged, it can be rebuilt at low cost and is exactly what Mazda intended the engine have.

A bit more info. Amazon has the Standard Products HyGrade rebuild kit for $40. That kit, a $30 bucket of carburetor cleaner and some elbow grease and you're back on the road.

The only issue is that when I got the car the carb was in pieces on the passenger side floor. Kinda just wanted to replace it with something a little better.

You better be willing to pony up 1000+ dollars , the holly and Webber carbs with the appropriate intake/ filters etc cost about that much

Unless you're making serious modifications, there probably is nothing better for your car than the original equipment designed for the job. It just might be worthwhile to download the Factory service manual and the more detailed carburetor manual and restore the floorboard puzzle. Lots of satisfaction possible along with lots of money saved. There are many members on the forum eager to help, just ask.
