I've heard good and bad things about my car. Good things from people who know what kinda car it is. I've had people stop me and talk to me about it and stuff.

All the bad things are from the ignorant morons who don't know jack about cars. I usually just ignore them.

Though I get compliments all the time, it's usually from people that know nothing about them.

They assume it's an early-to-mid 90s car, not an early-to-mid 80s car...

One of my neighbors tells me it was her dream car when she was in high school. She stops by periodically to check progress.

About once a month another neighbor tries to get me to sell it to him.

And even though it's kinda ugly (interior's good & it runs great, needs paint), it seems to get me hit on a lot.

A co-worker once told me that my 7 sounded like a lawnmower on crack.

Probably due to it used to be a Automatic that idled around 1500 and my Pacesetter headers and exhaust w/o the cat...

I couldn't argue, it really did sound like that!

Then again, a few who don't know cars will ask you, "hey, is that a porshe!"

i dont want to sound racist (i think its just the area im in anyways) but white, and black ppl never seem to like the car. "That **** is too loud" "you gonna come mow my lawn next ?" "The inside is **** colored" "DAMN! I can see the ground from under your hood !" - However, if i get any compliments it is almost always from hispanic people. I went to a party w/ my boy (i was the only white one there) they loved it. One of the kids thought it was so hard he wouldnt stop talking about it. It got worse (better?) after they saw the engine and heard it w/o the silencer. The kids aunt had a brand new Acura 3.2 TL and she thought it was the ****. One of the kids told me to race her. Long story short, they LOVED the flames!

actually, the guys at work call my 80LS the crotch rocket of cars. it seems to be a car that makes people smile, including me. people think that my car is newer than it really is. not to be conceded, but i am sure you all know what i am talking about, but it never gets old hearing the compliments. i love it.

I had a guy ask if I was willing to sell mine. I also had a kid tell me my car sounds like his 4-wheeler, and no I have no performance muffler, just a cheap midas one. My girlfriend also said she's scared to ride in it cause it's so fast she feels like I'm gonna wreck.

I've had a few people offer to buy mine when I'm at work (gas station) most of them are dumbass customers that don't know **** about cars, but "always liked them when they were new" what a joke, I can't stand when braindead people talk to me about my car. Its rare that I actually get into a good conversation about it with someone. A few of the regular customers that come in there races Porsche's and knows his **** when it comes to sports cars, I always like talking to him, he agrees with me that first gens look way better than second gens

I get nice comments on my SE all the time... when she runs. A couple weeks ago at the bank a guy told me how geat the car looked (he didn't see the dent and proken taillight), and that his wife has an 81.

And just this past Friday I was at a mechanics shop getting an estimate on the company van, when a guy wandered by from the shop next door and said "awsome ride, what is it?"...

The 15 year old kid at McDonalds the other day seemed to know his stuff when he was telling his coworker to come by the pick-up window to check it out - he even said "that's an older one, with that rotary engine!".

He was entertaining, but not nearly as flattering as the radiator guy that asked me what kind of car it was because he thought it was brand new off the dealer lot - and he hadn't seen one before!

Definitely gets attention, especially in this color.

My favorite is when people see how fast the car is then decide that they know exactly how many cylinders it has so they start at either 6 or 8 then from there choose 8 or 6 then go to 4 and finally 2 or 10 and when you say no they get this confused look on their face and ask well darn how many cylinders does it have. Then you say 0 and they nearly flip out. Next you need to explain how a rotary actually runs and then they ask the displacement, which is another heart stopper to these know it all's. I just love it

Heh, I get this when I go in to register the car in MO and also when I pay the personal property tax on it here. "How many cylinders?" I tell them zero and they get a weird look and they try typing it into the computer. Doesn't compute, seems there is no entry for a zero cylinder engine in their database. The DMV has the rotary rated at 0HP but has to use the lowest rating of 19HP so they can charge me many to get it tagged

Recent run in at a mechanic that had an FB sitting in his lot, he says the only good rotary is one on fire. Guess who won't be recommending him to anyone.

Uncle-in-law says they're junk and always need to be worked on. He's a Mustang guy, 'nough said.

Good comments, little old lady at my office has an FC vert in mint condition, black on black. Loves the rotary cars. She garages it now and only takes it out once in a while. We talk shop. Her son is in college and is really interested in getting a rotary car sometime. Takes hers to shows when he can.

Peace signs from other people you've never met passing you at lights or stop signs

People have come up to me at the gas station to look at the car and watch in amazement as I premix some two cycle into the gas tank. The attendant the other night told me he didn't think my car had that big of a gas tank in it when I had put 12.5gal in. I told him it wasn't even full and his jaw about hit the floor. What is it a 14.5 or 16gal tank?

I'm the only FB that is regular driven around this town so I get quite a few amazed looks. Usually seems along the lines of what is that?

lol yea when my car was running, i wouldent realy get stuff like "what is that" i got more stuff like, "your car sounds funny there might be some thing wrong" and "i think one of your cylinders is down"

and once when my radiator started to leak it would run across the hose and hit the motor and burn off... well that created steam. when i stoped at a stop light on my way to my local auto stort to fix my leak. and i hear "hey... your cars on fire! get out!" i just looked at him like he was crazy and drove off. it was kinda funny.

it's the other way around, actually. mazda wanted something to fit in the z-car market. i have a book about the rx-7 and they show some neat pictures of early body molds.
