6 port motor question?

Is the 84-85 GSL-SE the only 7 that the 6 port came in?

I have a lot of people telling me that there was a 6 port in the 86-87 NA rx7's also. If this is true would a 86-87 block bolt up to all of the GSL-SE motor parts?

All the NA second gens were 6 port 13B's. I'm assuming the newer engine would fit the old intake, all you'd need to put it in your car is to use your front cover and oil pan.

No, The 6 Port N/A (Normally Aspirated-Not Turbo) Engine was available in the 84-85 RX-7 GSL-SE, and later thorough the 86-91 Non Turbo models.

Yes and No, they will bolt up, however the port sizes are larger in the Second Gen RX-7. The Fuel Injection is also different. There are some other differences too, such as the oil pan, the position of the engine mounts, as well as the intake manifolds.

The SE had the larger and more desirable 3MM apex seals, where as the Newer Second Gen engine had higher compression ratios, and other refinements.

I am in the process of trying to buy a used 2nd Gen Engine so I can use its intake manifolds and higher compression rotors for my 6-Port Turbo project. I am in Miami - Anyone out there, let me know!

I disagree, the 2mm 3-piece seals are MUCH more desirable, they seal better and can rev higher. But you need an '86-up engine to use them

Max7's site has pics of the differences between GSL-SE and FC 6-port intakes. They aren't a true "bolt up".

I wanted to add my 2 cents in saying the SE motors 3mm seal will last longer than the 86' up 2mm seals.
