5th and 6th port actuators
does anyone know what the needle screw is used for on the bottom of the 5th and 6P actuators? can it be adjusted? what happens if you fiddle with it?

i dunno. i noticed yesterday when i was working on my SE that one of the screws had fallen out of the rear actuator. i removed it and cleaned it and installed another screw and nothing changed. only the screw i installed wasn't sharpened at the tip and was different from the other screw. just figured i would ask.
Well, you got me on that one.
The SE actuators that I've looked at either would hold pressure, or would not - this results in them either bleeding pressure (2-5psi) from the internal diaphragm, or they were intact.
From what you describe with the 'pointy-tip' screw, that would lead me to believe that it may be a pressure regulator that when the diaphragm moves far, it opens the 'bleed hole' that the pointy tip screw holds closed. That would be one way of tuning how far the diaphragm opens and thus, when the port would be fully open.
I have no information to back that up, however, and the FSM doesn't describe a means of tuning these for any particular reason. The FSM does provide a pressure test to see if they open, but nothing beyond that.
If anyone has taken one apart, I'd be curious what they found. HTH,

Well I plan on taking off my intake and cleaning it out one of these days soon, if im feeling adventurous enough to wander into the unkown area of the 6 port acutator things ill try and see if i cant figure out what they are for. Ill take some pics, too.

If the screw point is 90 degrees it is used for holding items on center. If the screw is for adjustment it would only make sense to have a locking nut to accompany it. Does the screw have a locking nut?
