Reading is good but experience is better. OK, lets prove the theory. lets race.

SP to SP
old 4port to old 4port ( meaning either old 4port or 12-A plates)
IDA to DCOE.

Find me a match anywhere in SoCal.

wackyracer: from what ive read, the IDA sounds like the better carb, im not shooting it down or anything! I was just saying that I think the DCOE looks cooler on the engine.

You should find someone to race with a DCOE, I would be interested in seeing what happens.

Hey what is it when the carb is ontop of the engine, I'm kinda dumb about these things.

DCOE is a sidedraft, it sits on top of the engine. the IDA is a downdraft, it sits right where the stock carb is.

As a general response, the engine's intake ports are on the side of the engine. A downdraft carb manifold makes a 90 degree bend so the carb is above the engine, but offset to the side. A sidedraft carb can either be mounted directly in line with the intake ports, which would put it beside the engine, or else wrap around 180 degrees to position the carb directly on top of the engine.
IDA=downdraft
DCOE=sidedraft (usually wraps around to top of engine)
