450 HP turbo II into 1st gen

well my friend bought a motorcycle and decided he is getting rid of his 2nd gen he is tired of spending the money, me i have a 323 GTX just sitting around. he wants to trade so he can have A/c and good gas mileage ect. plus the gtx is worth about 4k. the engine in his car is really well built and puts out 450Hp at 15 PSI.... but the 2nd gen is a POS inside and out

im thinking i will swap it all over to my gen 1.

is it hard to swap a ford rearend in? im sure the stock lsd cant take it

i assume you just weld up the points to attach, but im worried i will mess it up then drive crooked i might as well go tri link too...

whats your take?

GTXs are so damn rare though.... a 450hp FB is just money. Finding a good clean umolested GTX is a feat in itself.

When you say the guy with the grey 1st gen do you mean DirectFreak? I think he has a Ford rear-end... Try searching it, I remember seeing a thread about that swap.

While youre takin the engine out of the car why not take the entire front sub-frame? get yourself some rack and pinion steering and big 4 piston brakes out of the deal. Theres a write-up about that in the archives.

yes, the ford rear isn't tooooooooo much of a pain depending on which you get. there is an 8" that comes out of a certain car (can't think of it) that doesn't need to be narrowed... i would go for that. search it up.

other than that... i think this is a great idea. it will be insanely fun

why not just swap in the diff out of the turbo II as well, seeing as how you will have it and all the related parts anyways, and you'd have independent rear suspension. also, you know the turbo II diff from that car can handle the power as it is right now handling the same engine you plan to swap.

im workin on it!!.

seriousely im going ahead with making a custom irs kit for using t2 parts, so it hopefully will be that easy, I just want some suspension software to get the paper part of the project finished, if anyone knows of some free software, thats complete, or a really good product i can buy...

the stock lsd and tranny will take it long as your not abusing the hell out of it.
im assuming your talking flywheel horse power.
lots of turbo 1st gens have been in that power range for some time.

i havent made it past 300-350 yet myself but my stock parts are holding up well.

dud e at 250rwhp my 12a trans gave up half way through an autocross lap, it did give a little warning though
rearend will hold if you dont rev/dump the clutch until you get higher in the hp department , then you will come to where iam now " looking for a good substitute rearend that will take the torque "
