4 spd, 5 spd

what year did these cars switch from 4spd to 5spd.... i heard someone post that they made 4spd's thru 82 but i always thought it was only the 79-80 cars with the 4spd's becuz the rules of SRX7 do not allow 79-80 cars, only 81-85 and i always thought that was the reason... just wondering.

SRX7 dosen't allow the SA's because they have thermal reactors. That's what I read. But I'm not to sure about the trans missions. All of the '81 models I've driven have had 5speeds.

yeah i think theres a bunch of reasons why srx7 is only 81-85.... i just wondered about the transmissions.

my 79 has a 5 speed and came with it. It was a option just like my power hatch release and a/c oh yeah and intermentent (sp) wipers.

The S model was 4spd, GS was 5spd.
