4 point harness question

Hey guys! I'm new here, as you can probably see by my post count lol.
So I just recantly purchased a 1983 GSL from a Teacher of mine and well, it needs some things lol. one of those things being seats. So I purchased a Corbeau A4 seat and will be purchasing one of their harness's to go along with it and I was wondering would I need to install a harness bar or would I be able to bolt the harness to the car in certain places that allow it? I've tried to find this information on my own for the past few days now but have come up empty every time. Thanks guy I appreciate it!

A harness bar is suggested but there isn't one specifically made for our cars.
That said there is a half cage out there with loops for a harness to wrap around and I was looking at getting one of these.

WARNING DON"T DO THIS!!!!
You can use an eyelet and drill it into the floor and bolt it down and use that as the point to mount your harness to and use your stock seats. I wouldn't suggest this because it isn't effective and not safe.
Attached is a picture of what not to do.

There are plenty of threads out there with pictures of how people mount their harnesses. Follow the same idea for your car.

With a harness, you want the shoulder straps to be level out the back of the seat. If they are at a downward angle, such as attaching them to the cargo floor, they can compress your spine in an accident. Definitely not what anyone wants from something that is supposed to keep you safe.

I don't know what you have to spend, but these are nice. The upper mount bolts to where you upper stock seat belt mount is. They also have a switch that makes them retractable like a factory belt for street use.

Wait so the top strap mounts
To where the oe seat belt mounts on that 3 point harness? Wouldn't that make the harness pointless if it mounts so high up? Idk I think I'm missing something

Not really, I dont know how tall you are, but the mount on first gen isnt really that high up. The lap belt is gonna keep you pulled down and the should straps will just keep you back.

I'm not a fan of installing a 4pt harness in a car that doesn't have a roll bar. Why? In the event of a rollover, a 4pt harness locks you bolt up right in your seat while an OE 3pt harness will allow you to duck out of the way of the roof.

If you are looking for a more positive way to hold your body in the seat, and improve your ability to control your car, I recommend installing either a 3" racing lap belt or a CG Lock.. Both of these options allow you to cinch down your body's most sensitive G-meter - your ***.

That's right - "seat-of-pants" feel. I have been autocrossing stock and highly modified cars for 27yrs with the SCCA and the best way to feel what your car is doing is get your butt firmly planted in the driver's seat. My preferred method is to install a 3" racing lap belt under the OE harness because then you can use both of them at the same time. Or you can pick up a CG lock and turn the lap portion of the OE harness into something you can cinch down tight. Either way, this leaves your upper body free to give you steering leverage while you remain firmly planted behind the wheel.

The OE RX7 seat is pretty good and combined with a lap belt/CG Lock they are perfect.
