I don't think you could do that for $4k. That sounds like it would be more expensive than that.

agreed! You might be able to pull it off but it would be tight. What are your ideas? If you have 4k I would go with a s5 turbo with a large street port. But you will be pushing that with 4k depending on if you have a se or not and if you are going to do the work yourself.

I'm doing an S5 turbo and FMIC into my 84 GS, and I've budgeted $10k for it.

whoo wee what is quite a bit for that swap. You will easily be under the 10k mark unless you are doing something radical...just a question though...why not just buy a 3rd gen at that price? Not trying to be anti 1st gen but that is a decent chunk of change. 5.5k is plenty for the swap.

Get an S5 Turbo II motor and swap it in. If you have a GSL-SE, you can use that tranny. I would say swap out teh rear end if you have a GSL-SE, the 12a rearends had thicker teeth for some reason. You can try to buy a front mount for it or you can cut a T2 hood scoop out and rivet it on your FB hood. I've seen one done like that before, it looks pretty kool. You'll be in the 12's with the swap and it shouldnt cost much more than 3k. The only thing is, you gotta do all the **** yourself, but if you own an RX-7, chances are you've probably already done alot of **** yourself lol.

because 3rd gens are uber weak and break easy lol. I love them too but until i can afford 3k rebuilds every 60k miles, im going to mod my GSL-SE. hahaha. Your right, though, it IS tempting. buy a 3rg gen then a beater *** late 80's 323 or something lol.

Or, you could take that $4k + a little and buy my whole car and have a 300whp RX7 at your disposal.
(that would be 300whp approximate, before I get flamed)
