3rd gen intake on an S5 turbo motor?

Hey guys,

I have done a TII swap on my 1st gen and would like to use a 3rd gen intake both upper and lower intake. Will this intake mate to the S5 motor?

Also what ECU are you 1gen turbo guys using. Micro tech, Megasquirt, haltech. Which is more user friendly when it comes to tuning.

Thanks for any input.

It is toast. I am planning on buying another jdm S5 motor but will be using fuel injection this time and would like to use a 3rd gen intake if possible.

MegaSquirt ( Not very user friendly / at leased there isn`t very much support when you need it ).

use the s5 lower and the fd upper. u will ahve to slightly mod the fd upper to amte well with the s5 lower but i think u will have trouble getting the fd lower on even if it is possible,iv never heard of anyone doing that.

i think the fd upper is good for about 5hp increase becasue the runners are straighter

i would get a j spec FD motor.. that way you get the good intake manifolds(with less smog crap) and you will have a better motor as well.. the fd motors come with better bearings, the light weight rotors, and have much larger intake runners = more power with less boost .. use your current front cover, oil pan and it will drop right in your car chris

af far as EMS systems, you cant go wrong with a halltech or microtech

I agree.

I am running a PFC. Easy to use well known among the tuning world and affordable. It might not be as hi-tech as some of the other systems but it gets the job done.

Does this have to be smog legal?

Cause its not likely to be passed with the vastly different manifold sitting atop what is supposed to be an S5 engine.I only ask because you are in CA.

The other issue is if you are running a stock S5 ECU (I assume you are since your using a PFC)......the S5 TPS is unlikely to work on the FD intake which uses a rotary type TPS. And I dont know if the FD unit has the same resistance values, certainly it doesnt have the dual TPS outputs like the S5.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I am going to just go with an FD J-spec motor and drop it in and go with a micro tech ECU.
