NC 3rd Brake Light add on? Custom? Thoughts?

Has anyone added a 3rd brake light to their 1st Gen? I was thinking of this more from a safety perspective, given that I find myself looking UP at nearly every vehicle around me.

I've seen the circa 1986ish 300zx / corvette / etc. tacked-on brake light, that sits on top of those cars like a wart of afterthought. I was thinking something that was slim and actually sat under the hatch glass, near the top of the hatch.

Anyone done anything along these lines?

thanks!

Shop around superbrightleds.com. You'll find several items that could fit the bill.

I pulled one from a volvo. Don't remember what type, but it was for the upper rear window like you mentioned.

I havent put it in yet, but a quick test fit looked pretty decent. Might not be a bad looking add-on.

Smokey, I'd like to see that light. My thoughts are along the lines of a light that is INSIDE the car, under the rear glass. I don't really like the scabbed on look of the light on top of the car. I mean, it looks okay - almost like it ought to be there - but to me, it disturbs the clean lines of the car.

Now if I had a body kit, that might be different. =)

Hella makes some retrofittable 3rd brake light assemblies.

Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply and search for "3rd"

Somewhat back from the dead. Has anyone tried one of these brake lights? I'm thinking that stuck to the underside of the hatch, towards the top, wouldn't be too tacky. And, having a third brake light mounted high has got to be an improvement in the safety department.
