But here's the problem more so than the diff. What about the ring and pinion gears? I shredded mine behind 250whp...
Well, yesterday my Racing Beat order arrived with new ring and pinion and all new bearings. These will be going on the new differential. Unfortunately, this was also not cheap. The idea is that using new stuff without 25 years of wear will be better than using 25-year-old stuff.

Only time (and power) will tell though. I also don not drag race so I am less abusive than some.

I didn't even know OS Giken made a diff that fit the big axle rearends. Most people just rebuild the stock clutch type and run it. At those power levels the main issue is the axles will begin to twist if they're on sticky rubber. You might want to look into Mosler axles as well. Talk to billy at Re-Speed.
Or just do it right and go with a Ford rearend. You'll have a limitless supply of LSD's and R&P's to run.

Thanks for the input, but I already have moser axles which I bought for my TII hub and brake upgrade. The OS Giken unit is the same as the 1.8l Miata according to OS Giken.

We will see for sure when I try to install it.

I have 90% of the Re-Speed catalogue in my car as well as Mariah, seats... Quicker to name what is not modified--namely dash, hood, roof, glass, and doors.

Next year I will probably be going to a GT35r and be looking for about 400whp.

Me neither, which is why the break was disconcerting. I don't bust axles, diffs, clutches, any of that. But then the teeth shred and now I'm paranoid.

What I would recommend is WPC coating. Supposed to work wonders for strength. When I had dreams of beefing a stock diff up I was going to get the OS giken, WPC coat the gears, maybe do some other form of treatment (case harden, nitride?), as well as moser axles and weld braces to the diff to combat flex.

Seriously considering just going with an 8.8 or a toyota 8"

Hell, you can "just" weld in a FD rear subframe and get a independant rear while you are at it (is has been done)

Well, with my rebuilt engine, I'm hoping to see 340-350 whp. Dave (KDR) said that the 4.11 gears that I bought will not have any issue and that if they do, something else is wrong or misaligned.

Puting in a lightweight flywheel while the engine is out (I blew it racing due to oil starvation, long story, see link posted above). I know the flywheel doesn't add power, but quicker revs can help the turbo spin up faster and get me in the powerband faster. Before, power was definately "on" by 35-37k.

Sounds like she's coming along nicely Mike. I really admire your attitude of "if it broke, then it needed to be upgraded anyway". Reminds me a bit of me.
