3 rotor 12a

triple carb's, seems like the hardest part would be the eccentric shaft. anyone know if someone can make them?

Atkins makes single rotor ones. Also think about the oil pan.

so what about the middle rotor ports? are they just smaller than the rest? since there are two of the small middle housing ports

I think that's why a lot of people that go 3 or 4 rotor turn them into PP. I wonder how well it would work if you plugged off the secondary ports on the front and rear plate and just used the primary ports on all the plates then also have smaller PP's?

The picture above looks like it's a PP engine to me, can we get more details on it?

i dont really like full out PP engines. id rather have somthing somewhat streetable. does anyone do small peripheral ports? so you dont loose all your low end?

also a question about peripheral ports. does the coolant rushing by have a negitive or positive effect?

No it is not a PP. The engine was not made for competition but to have increased power and remain a practical and reliable driver. It was about 15 years ago so I apologise for the few details.

That's funny... a PP definately meets the criteria.

they do 3 rotor conversions with SU carb's.

"300 BHP RX-777
Tripple Rotor Engine Conversion

Triple rotor engine

Triple 1 3/4" HIF SU carburettor

Special HME inlet manifolds

Exhaust manifold and free flow exhaust system

Heavy duty clutch assembly and bearing

Triple rotor distributor

Rev-counter conversion

Drive in / Drive out

The RX-777 conversion gives 160 mph performance combined with an economical 24 MPG at 70/80 mph motorway cruising."

a better link is here : http://www.hurleyrotary.com/hme13btt.aspx

seems to me it would be easier to make a 4-rotor with exception on the shaft by connecting 2 12a's together and you could use 2 distributors and 2 intakes 2 modified headers. Thats prolly suonds like crap though cause I really dont know how stacking rotors up works

Welcome to 1988, LOL. The fuel economy is very good with S.U. carbs, but being Imperial gallons, 25 mpg = 21 mpg (US). BTW, I did locate copies of a couple old magazine articles from the day. No details on porting in them but IIRC all the ports were tall.

from looking at the intake manifold on their site I'd have to agree with you. All the ports look to be about the same size from what I can see.

"........truly magnificent exhaust note"

With 25 engines built so far , I wonder if anyone in the UK has a video clip of that?

you think maybe you could PP one of the three rotors for alittle more top end, but i guess it could make it real out of balance unless it was the middle rotor. Just dreaming

Why just one? Do them all with a small PP and the regular side ports. Maybe have the primarys as the side ports and have secondaries go to just the PP's? Would have to make a new intake.

I'd like to know how much just the shaft and the modded center plate is..

Ask Jeff Bruce. I think he has a website. Try a google search.

Edit: I just did a google search and didn't come up with anything.

Fellow forum user the HITman has a three rotor 13B that Jeff Bruce had a hand in creating. It's called NOT-20B appropriately enough. http://www.hitman.hm/engine.htm You might try asking the HITman if he knows of a way to get ahold of Jeff Bruce.
