2GCDFIS = Dead Starter????

I am trying to do the direct fire setup on my 79', when I get it set up I can start the car but after it runs for a minute and I shut it off it will not restart. I tryed looking for a crossed wire somewhere never found one so I switched back to stock coil setup still would not start, finally tried taping on the starter selinoid with a hammer and that got the starter working again. I went through this process twice (setup 2nd gen coil, run the car then no restart, switch back to stock) and now I think the starter is dead, the hammer trick is not working, had to push start to get home. What is the problem?

Starter is bad and you may have had the coil upgrade installed wrong. Most likely 2 unrelated problems.

There is a very nice writeup in the 1st gen Archives, complete with drawings.
