Help me tune my Holley!

I have a 1985 GSL with a street ported 4-port 13B Holley carb and intake light flywheel and RB header and exhaust. My car doesnt run quite right and I hooked up a vaccum gauge and i want to know if this is normal (rapidly fluxuating) for a rotary( it isnt for piston engines) and if not how to fix it. A website would be good if you knew of one. Thanks

You need a tee from both rotors if you are taking vacuum from the intake runner. On my 1/2 bp with semi-stock exhaust, the needle on the vacuum gauge vibrated so fast it was a blur. 3" exhaust slowed the vibration down.

im getting the vaccum reading from the intake manifold. I feel llike i should be getting more power than i am getting and i think it is the carb. Any other ideas?

are the secondaries opening up? i know i had probs with the vacuum secondaries not opening so i just did "the screw trick" and that has worked great ever since..

i still think there is more power to be had out of my holley though. not a lot of top-end

Paradox:

If you dont have the top end you are expecting you are running too lean. That is what I have experienced. I have run way too lean through too rich and I have figured out, black smoke runs crappy = too rich. When it is too lean I feel a complete lack of top end.

1985GSL:

I think the vac guage is for the idle and vac secs? I dont use vac secs I use the screw trick and make secs mech. What does the engine do or dont do? What are you trying to get the engine to stop doing? Only the bouncing of the vac guage?

Forget the vac gauge---learn how to read the spark plugs----make the secondaries open ,staged with the linkage. spark plug reading grey-brown=correct carb jetting
