20B Curiosity

I'm having trouble find out how wide the housing on a 20B are.

I know
12A rotor housings are 70 mm wide
13B rotor housings are 80 mm wide
20B rotor housings are how wide?

Is the 20B just a 13B or 12A with a third housing? or are they diffrent housings and rotors all together?

Jeff20B or anyone who knows want to give me some insight on this?

80 mm wide. The 20B was based off of a 13B, just added the extra rotor.

so if one wanted... a person could get a second 13B and the intake and exhaust manifold from a 20B and they should bolt on correct? Not to mention all the other aspects needed for a 20B that would differ from the 13B (injectors, ignition, etc...) correct?

first you need the eccentric shaft, and the you need the thick centerplate that is between the front rotor housing and the center rotorhousing, if you have this, and the inntake and exhaust manifold for the 20b too you are soon ready to put the engine together. A 13b rotor housing can be used on a 20b engine for example

No. The 20B has a special center iron to allow the 3rd rotor (you need a stationary gear for that rotor to ride on). The other big hurdle is the e-shaft. You can use a 20B one for a 3 rotor, but need custom to do a 4 rotor. Also, you have to think about things like the oil pan, ignition, mounting, etc. The 20B is an expensive and complicated swap. All drivetrain needs to be upgraded, lots of fabrication/custom work, fuel system, etc.

If you are going to do it, it is best to start with a full 20B, rebuild if needed, then work out all the mounting/install issues.

I wasn't planning on doing it... just trying to learn and expand my knowlege of this wonderful thing called the Rotory Engine!

I don't have the time, money or know how to do the swap. I'll stick with my 13B and maybe someday think of turbo 2... but I'm content with what I have for now.
