20b???
so I am new to the game, so yeah I need some advice on a lot of ****, I am sure that someone has already asked this but yeah here it goes.
how tough it is to put a 20b into a first gen, and also where besides ebay can I get one.
also what are the advantages or disadvatages to putting in a 13b turbo and all compared to a 20b. The help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

20B requires more fab skills, and equipment than most people have access to. Easily $20k or more for the whole swap, because just about everything will have to be replaced with stronger/better components to properly handle the power and speeds that a 20B would make. 20B has the advantage of more low end torque, and more reliable when pushing more than 500 Hp... its the ultimate example of rotary power, 600Hp+ is not incredibly hard to make. Its major disadvantage I think is weight distribution, and of course cost/time. 13B's are cheaper, and already came in a 1st gen, so the swap is easier. Power potential is still good, with several 400Hp+ examples here on the board.
Still a full 13B turbo project is not extremely cheap, unless you convert to carb and sacrifice drivablity and fuel economy, or run the stock ECU and sacrifice tunablity and power. Expect to spend on the order of $5k for a good stock 13BT engine, stock turbo EFI setup. I've got more than $6k in mine, and I still have a descent sized wish list that will go unfulfilled for the time being.

not for sure but in looking at the dimensions of the 20b and then the engine bay size of a first gen. it's doubtful that you would ever get on in the engine with out pushing the fire wall back or some how moving the radiator forward. also you would have to find a dis trani, and then a custom sized drive shaft. not to mention th mounting issue. also the problem it would cause to the handling. rx7's in general handle so well b/c of the 50:50 weight disribution. if you add another 300 lbs to the front your handling will go to hell. unless u do some susension modifing and add weight to the back end. but by the time you do that, you have to consider what is more effective, adding the 600 - 700 lbs and having 500 hp or having a lighter car with 250-300 hp. then if you do a 20b you have to figure out how you get the power all to the ground with out burning the **** outa your tred. i think that would be the biggest issue. power is no good unless you can get it to grip the ground. so IMO you should go 13b and build it up. there is a lot more that can be easier/cheaper done to the 13b than a 20b.
That guy doesn't like the look of a naked dizzy cap. Heh, nice looped plug wires. It looks like there's a little generator where the alt would normally be. Stock looking OMP lines. Oil filter in stock location. P-ports. FC waterpump with FB Tstat cover. That looks like it took a lot of work and money. I remember discussing those pics on the 20B forum.
Well, whatever you do, I wish you luck, 'cause you're gonna need it.

yeah thats jesus paldila's car. He doesnt run that setup any more because the enigne was BANNED for the NHRA, but when he did run it he competed in the allmotor class (no forced injection of nos).
He was pushing 600hp+, and was running a 10.2 quarter mile. Thats pretty damn good for n/a!
