Unhappy 2 miles and needing more gas

good day/night gent/ladies(if any)

i got an 84 se and it burns a lot of gas ...no smoke and the oil preesyre gauge shows compression to be okay...i've had mostly gsl's(12a) and had 1 se but don't remember it burning gas like this..15miles starting on a 1/2 tank , and by the time i drive the 15 miles it a little past 1/4...i also was told that this model(se) has a third injector (cold start) and that they get stuck..where is it? i've readmy hayes and can't find it..by the way should there be a ticking sound (sounds like a fuel injector{ticksfaster when i raise the rpm})should it be making noise..i don't remember my other se making that sound.
help anyone fuel prices are raising..:o

Are you sure your fuel gauge is reading correctly?

BTW there is no cold start valve.

How many gallons from 1/4 tank to full, or from 1/2 tank to full?

It should be about 9-10 gallons to go from 1/4 to full.

is the car ported or have an aftermarket carb on it? Do you romp on it as well? Both of those are huge factors.

That's probably your solenoids... Check your TPS...

Ticking can also be the OMP (oil metering pump) check if it is operating ok and not leaking

I am going to guess you have a gas leak somewhere, or your fuel level sender is whacked out. I doubt you are getting 4 miles per gallon.

I say congrats on owning your car more than 6 years AND remembering what the problem was that long ago.
