1stgen info
Anyone know how you can verify, or get some info on a 1st gen 7? I have a fairly early 79 and I want to learn as much about it as possible.
Ive called Mazda, tried all the web sites I can find, and there doesnt seem to be anything available about a car that has a pre-81(switched to 17digit) VIN.
My 79 only shows 42,000 miles and wear is consistent with that mileage, but the curiosity is killing me.

Any info (or pointers to where i could get some) would be GREATLY appreciated. Heres what I know:
SA22C-546022
42,000 on the ODO
MFR: 2-79 Toyo Kogyo in Japan
Incredible condition with galss and hard inserts for the sunroof.
Looks like it was purchased with all available options.
Has Limited badging, but I cant seem to find anything anywhere on a limited edition. Unless Im a retard and that is what the GSL is.

If it's black and has Leather interior, Pack it up in a glass box because it is RARE!
The 1979 Limited Edition or "Leather Sport" had very few made, all options, black only. A defenate Collectors Item.

Dear 79Rex, Pele, and all others:
I am the proud owner of a very rare 79 Limited Edition. The paint color is Beat Black Metallic, the package included special wheels, seats, limited badges, guage cluster, silver colored center dash, and special pinstriping among other options. I am interested in finding someone who has pics of another original 79Lim because my car is in the paintshop as we speak and I have no idea what the pinstripes were. I believe they had bergundy and white or silver stripes. Does anyone know the answer to this? Also, is there a web site dedicated to these limited production cars?
Please email me at dustin@gummels.com
Thank you.
