1st gen wheel identification help.

Bought these today on a whim because the price was right. I can tell you for sure they are not WEDS, Rikens, and definately not Hayashis, Epsilons, or SSRs. Not that I thought that they were, just eliminating a few now.

They look kinda like Enkeis, but I have a set of Enkeis and those are stamped 'ENKEI' on the back side. And the weave pattern differs VERY slightly. These simply say,

"DEL MADE IN U.S.A." and

"15X7 DOT T MAX LOAD 1580 LBS"

No other ID markings, no offset stamp no nothing.

Other than the MASSIVE tires lol, they were a good buy. Cheap, and look like an easy restoration project. Cant wait to get my 195/50/15's on them and go cruising.

Just FYI my research is leading me to believe they are just an Enkei knockoff. The previous owner said he used to remember the brand, he 'beleived' it started with an E but he was sure they are not Enkei. I am pretty sure they arent too, I dont think Enkei made wheels in the U.S.

I am just curious if we have any gurus who might know what american company was knocking off Enekis.

Epsilons really are great looking wheels especially on cars with these body lines. Great find and they should look great when all cleaned up.

I have a set of Enkei's and trust me, these are not Enkei's. I have a set of Rikens as well, and they are even more different.

I was under the impression Epsilons only made multi-piece wheels. If these are indeed Epsilons that would be nice. Although I cant find anything on one piece Epsilons.... The lips are pitted badly, looks like he cleaned them with something corrosive. Ive started sanding and all of it is coming out, but my fingers arent happy lol!

Its going to be a few days but once I get the lips to a mirror shine Ill post pics. This will be my fourth or fifth set of wheels Ive done so far...

My Celica's wheels when I got them...

And after hours of sanding and polishing... Plus some painting...

Now the wheels look better than the car!! I really need to gut the quarters on this thing lol!

EDIT :: In case anyone is wondering after I posted these pics, Yes the meshies are going on my 7. The Celica pics are just to showcase my wheel restoration abilities. That and I like showing off... lol...

As I have said about three times already, yes they look like Enkeis, but I own a set of Enkei 92s that are 14 inch, with gold centers, they are in front of me right now.

The 15s look similar but the weave of the spokes is slightly different, and Enkeis are made in Japan, these state they are made in the USA.

I also own a set of 13 inch Rikens, I just sold a set of Weds Autobahns, and have seen several Epsilons in person. These are not any Epsilons I have ever seen. The weave, casting marks, and stamps on the back are totally different from my Enkeis.

There were MANY companies making rip off cheap meshies during the eighties. This could just be a third party wheel that is a really good copy of an Enkei 92. I was simply hoping someone might know who else was making meshies during that time period.

EDIT:: Unless Enkei was producing wheels in the U.S.A and selling them without the Enkei stamp on the back, I dont think they are actual Enkeis. However I just mounted the EXACT same tires you have on your 92's in that pic lol! Had them on my Autobahns and now they are on these turds...

Perhaps they are 92's but Ive never seen a set without the Enkei stamp on the back side of the mesh.

That or they are a cheap Enkei knockoff. Either way they cleaned up nice.

195/45/15 Short I know, but the price was really right, and they are almost in new condition.

Ill take your word for it then. Ive seen many a person call Enkeis Rikens, or Rikens Autobahns. Someone might have just found a generic pic and called them ARE on the site I was on. Cant trust everything you see on the internet... To an untrained eye all meshies look basically the same.
