1st Gen Love

Just thought I'd share pics of this sweet ride that is coming down to run the road course at the Rotary Revolution!

They will also be speaking at the event (topic to be announced).

Yep, that's a porsche he's whipping up on in that one photo!

hmm. 6500 in 4th = almost 120mph in my '83 GSL. (don't ask how i know) afaik top speed in these cars is 4th gear, limited by aerodynamics vs. horsepower.

My 82 keeps going after 4th... ive had it at almost 7000 RPM in fifth (kinda scary). sadly my speedo only goes to 85 so i have no clue how fast i was going.

(this was on a really long, straight road in the middle of nowhere. probably down hill, too )

P.S. it took a fairly long time to get going that fast in fifth, so in all praticality top speed is in 4th

yeah i was gonna say - probably down a hill. we've got a floating bridge between seattle and bellevue here that's a couple miles long at least. you gotta go from the top of a hill to the bridge deck on the lake surface (so downhill to perfect level). took me for freaking ever to hit 115-125 (my speedometer was pretty bouncy haha). maybe a minute, with a 75-80mph head start down the hill.

when i shifted into 5th, my speed started bleeding off...

Those pics are sweet, I love fb race cars. As for the speed thing, I rarely look at the speedo unless a cop is on my *** or something. As for top speed I'm inclined to agree that 5th is worthless for it, for the same hp vs aero reasons listed above. It pulls pretty hard in 4th, shift to 5th and it doesn't really do much of anything.

I knew Roland was instructing. I didn't know he was speaking. That's great.

Instructing no...speaking yes...

We'd love to have him instruct, but our insurance company is driving us insane with all new rules and they would not approve anyone outside of the company we use to instruct at the event.

I know it sounds silly, such are insurance companies these days.

Still he'll be there tuning his car on the road course and speaking at one of the seminars. He'll also be available to just hang out with and talk to during the weekend.

Oh yes... we wouldn't want a Runoff contender showing people how to drive... that makes way too much sense. I love bureaucracy.

My stock (well, white lie, mechanical secondaries, header and no emissions gear) '79 went pretty quick when I raced a Maxda GTX (1800 DOCH Turbo) I was seeing 220km/h easily with a 12A 6-port and a buggered water pump bearing (bad news, lots of schredded fan belt rubber), and naffed water seal. I got a bit ripped on a deal buying that motor but it went OK. I had 8 sec flat 0-60mph with the older 12A 4 port motor, I liked it better coz it backfired loudly on trailing throttle from redline.

Btw isn't 7000 the factory redline, someone mentioned 6500.

Well, get all those 1st Gens rolling down a large hill toward Indy!

Honestly, 1st gen registration is picking up, looks like we'll have more than we had last year by far!

10 of you in the bank so far and I know there's more out there that have promised they are coming.

Just remember, early registration ends at 00:00:00.01 EST on March 1st. After that the price goes up a little.

Now where are those Mariah widebody's I was promised
