could be cool, especially if done right.

There's an Aussie with a custom 13B that he turned into a 3 rotor using some custom and some 20B parts - that thing looks amazing.

He is? I thought it was a 13B. I retract my previous statement of my car being able to beat his.

He's dropping a 20 from a Cosmo into his GSL-SE - or so I understand.

I really don't see the point of a 20B swap into a first gen. unless it's for a drag or show car. It's obviously going to add a lot of weight and it's by no means a simple or inexpensive project. Better off going the turbo 13B route like everyone else. I suppose you can't argue with the novelty factor though...

its been done before, theres a thread in the 20b section with pics. it would be cool, but a 13b turbo swap would be a lot more "drivable". feel free to pm me if you have any 20b/cosmo questions

I would say A LOT...

probably like 10K or more

we're talking new ignition, engine mounts, if it's turbo, and intercooler, new rear end (no way the stock rear end will take the abuse of 700+ HP), new custom drive shaft, new tranny, etc, etc, etc....

The stock 20b only pushes out around 300. A 700+ hp motor would be heavily modified and if going for only $4000 may have some major problems coming up.

I agree with the estimates you would need to budget some $10-12K for installation. It would end up as a straight line drag car ,so you should also budget also for yoir tow car and trailer.

if it was turboed, like he said, that would push out quite a few more ponies, but I haven't heard of the 20B ever being turboed?

The 20B only ever came out in turbo form... twin turbo actually. It's out of the JC Cosmo.

What do you mean by "with everything".

The cost of installing the three rotor will depend on how much work you do yourself and how good you are at fabricating.

To fit the engine you would most likely need a custom cross-member, engine mounts and possibly sump. The radiator and oil cooler will need to be moved forward to make way for the engine and you can forget about using the stock items as they won't provide sufficient cooling. You will also need to upgrade the rest of the driveline to cope with the extra torque of the 20B. And that's just the basics... depending on what comes with the engine you'll also need an aftermarket ECU, and all the required fuel and ignition system components. Plus all the miscellaneous things that are involved in a project like this.

And I'd be very sceptical of anyone "claiming" 700hp without some sort of proof. It's definately possible but would obviously require extensive modifcations and tuning.

I figure there are always retards in GTOs and Fairlanes that have outrageous hp numbers...like 800 or 14567hp so I figure, putting a 20b in my car is no different than jamming a huge engine into a domestic. Except that its the fact that its still rotary, still mazda, and it still doesnt increase weight much...relocate battery, do a little guttin' and voila!

More backfires, and more of that rotary scream. I love it.

There is no such thing as a 13b TT. Its a 13b-REW (thats a 3rd gen Rx-7 motor)

The 13b is of course 1308cc, the B is the series of 13b's, and the RE is rotary engine, and W stands for Twin (dont know how they got W but thats the desigantion of letters)

3rd gen motors are nice, but Id get a Cosmo 13b, they are cheaper and after you chunk the worthless twin turbos and go single they yield more horsepower due to the bigger better intake manifold.
